Moissanite is a gemstone composed of silicon carbide (SiC). It was first discovered in 1893 by Henri Moissan, a Nobel Prize-winning chemist, in a meteorite crater in Arizona. Initially it was mistaken for diamond, but on further analysis it was identified as a new and unique mineral. While moissanite was first found in a meteorite, the moissanite used in jewellery today is typically lab grown.
Moissanite's composition sets it apart from diamonds. Comprising silicon and carbon, it has a crystal structure that differs from that of a diamond. One of its standout features is its remarkable hardness: while diamonds top the Mohs scale with a perfect 10, moissanite's 9.25 makes it highly resistant to scratching, chipping and breaking — an excellent choice for everyday wear.

What is covered
Sapphire Studios Design provides a Limited Lifetime Warranty on all Avamore moissanite gemstones. The terms of the Limited Lifetime Warranty include a warranty against defects in material and workmanship.
The warranty is automatically registered to the purchaser and is effective at date of purchase. This is applicable to the singular stone, a listing or custom design that includes the stone, or as an upgrade option. Receiving any remedy provided herein requires you to have purchased either on our website or in store and/or hold a valid authenticity certificate and invoice.
Your remedy
The sole and exclusive remedy for any defect covered by this Limited Lifetime Warranty is that, during your lifetime, Sapphire Studios Design will, at its option, repair the item(s), or replace with item(s) of equal or greater quality, without charge to you. You will be responsible for any cost of shipment of your gem(s) to Sapphire Studios Design, and Sapphire Studios Design will not be responsible for any damage or loss during shipment.
Transferring the warranty
This Limited Lifetime Warranty is transferrable by the end-consumer purchaser only when gifted to a third person, provided that the recipient and authenticity card is also passed on.
What is not covered
Sapphire Studios Design does not approve any third party alterations or treatments; such processes will void this warranty and may result in damage to the stone.
Temporary coatings, which are applicable to some coloured moissanite's, do not have a lifetime warranty on the coating itself — the warranty only pertains to the stone structure.
Stones damaged via physical force that is not evidently associated with wear and tear are not covered under warranty; this will be determined by analysis at the discretion of Sapphire Studios Design. Complete loss of a stone is not covered by warranty.
